Virtual tour 360 – Warsaw Snooker Center

CHALLENGE 💪
Client’s requirement to combine the unfettered freedom of a virtual tour of the club with a simultaneous guided tour by a guide (club owner). The added narration should support the tour of the club and not hinder independent exploration.

STAGE I (completed): virtual tour of the club with the owner as guide
STAGE II (in progress): Enrichment of the walk with e-learning elements (quizzes about the club, finding hidden markers). More details coming soon!

STAGE I CHALLENGES
The Snooker Sports Club (https://snooker.center) is a club that, in addition to classes, offers the possibility of renting tables for playing (snooker/pool billiards). Access to the club is done remotely (access code/remote door opening) without the physical presence of staff.

Needs to be addressed:

  • the tour should make it possible to get comfortable with the club before the visit
  • how to use the club and its equipment should be explained in an attractive way
  • interesting facts about the club should be incorporated into the tour
  • the tour should address the solution to the problem of finding a light switch (by people unfamiliar with the club); this may seem trivial, but the club’s space is very large, the windows are covered, and the inability to find the switch can be very frustrating

Implementation requirements:

  • addressing all needs
  • unfettered freedom to move around the club and launch interactive elements from different locations
  • the guide’s story should not stop the possibility of exploration
  • no “stuffiness” in the narrative and its maximum simplicity (only the necessary elements)
  • the walkthrough must work on a desktop computer, tablet and cell phone

Challenges:

  • most of the club area is one large room
  • light failure the day before the assignment in part of the club (e.g., hanging makeshift cables on the walls)
  • the guide’s story should not stop the walk
  • original addressing of the problem of finding the light switch after entering the club

IMPLEMENTATION

1 We decided that the best way to implement the objectives would be a personal tour of the club by the owner, who will record videos in the places of the club about which he talks.

  1. individual stories about the places in the club should be independently launched by visitors and not block movement through the club.
  2. additional interactive elements added.
  3. light switch: after entering the club with the lights off, the owner personally invites the visitor to walk around and offers to turn it on at the beginning. This happens automatically after the video ends.

Scale of the project:

  • 44 separate 360° panoramas linked together by more than 300 “motion markers”
  • 15 videos used to tell the story of the club and its facilities
